East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. JSBC has the story.

Jiangsu has stepped up its efforts to coordinate epidemic prevention and control and industrial production by promoting the construction of and making important progress in major investment projects.

The Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge is the longest-span highway-rail cable-stayed bridge currently under construction in the world.

A main tower will be built in the north and south respectively. The horizontal beam that holds up the steel beams are located at the junction of the lower and middle pillars, like the shoulders of the bridge.

Zhang Xuguang, Director of Engineering, Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge Project, China Railway Bridge Bureau said that they would accelerate the progress of the project in 2022 and they expected to have completed 77% of the total project volume by the end of the year.

The project operator has strictly implemented epidemic prevention requirements in a bid to ensure the smooth progress of the construction by further refining the measures for close-door construction sites, canceling dine-in the canteen, and increasing the frequency of ventilation and disinfection in areas such as offices and dormitories.

Zou Zhenlei, Deputy Secretary of Party Working Committee of Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge Project, China Railway Bridge Bureau, said that they have ensured strict close-door management from the construction site to the dormitory by implementing a 24-hour duty system, purchasing daily necessities, disinfecting express delivery so that they could strictly respond to the government's call, and resolutely win the battle against the epidemic.

It was noon hours and on the power grid iron tower in Huangdai Town, Xiangcheng District of Suzhou, the workers were seen conducting the final inspection before the acceptance of the 500 kV Meili-Mudu power transmission line relocation project, which will soon be put into operation.

Due to the overlap with the Baihetan-Jiangsu UHV transmission line, the construction company relocated the original Meili-Mudu line by relocating 13 kilometers and building 42 new iron towers.

The smooth operation of the line has provided a resource channel for the Baihetan-Jiangsu UHV DC supporting project.

At present, the Baihetan-Yucheng converter station and various supporting delivery projects are progressing in an orderly manner. The first batch of 4 million kilowatts will be put into operation in June before its operation at the end of the year.

Tian Qiang, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Construction Department of State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company, introduced that they have adopted the world's first hybrid-level flexible DC technology in the Yucheng converter station. Upon its operation by the end of this year, the project will provide 8 million kilowatts of clean power for Suzhou Power Grid.
