Expats working and living in Jiangsu province have volunteered to assist in the epidemic prevention and control since the start of the recent resurgence of the epidemic in the province.

Nikolai, a German engineer of a foreign-funded company in Changzhou High-tech Zone, has been living in Jiangsu for 7 years. When the city reported resurgence of the epidemic, he wasted no time to apply to become a volunteer.

Nikolai said that the Changzhou Municipal Government and all sectors of society have made great efforts. As a member of Xinbei District, he hoped to give back to the society.

Nikolai was responsible for guiding expats who came here for nucleic acid testing, and he did not stop for a moment during the six-hour volunteer work.

Nikola also set up a WeChat group for expatriate volunteers, and Tony from the UK is one of them.

“I came here today to experience the work of being a volunteer, and at the same time to help keep order at the site, so as to better help foreigners understand how the daily epidemic prevention work is carried out”, said Tony.

More than 1,900 foreign-invested enterprises have settled in Changzhou High-tech Zone where more than 1,000 expats are making the city their place of work and home.

In their eyes, Changzhou has become their second hometown, and volunteering is a way for them to contribute to the city they live in.
