Jiangsu’s CPI up 2.1 in March

Consumer price index in Jiangsu rose 2.1 percent year-on-year in March, the Jiangsu Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics announced on Monday. Food prices fell by 0.2%, while non-food prices rose significantly, reaching 2.6% year on year. 

In March, affected by factors such as the domestic spread of the epidemic and the rise in international commodity prices, the consumer price of Jiangsu residents rose by 2.1% year-on-year, an increase of 0.9 percentage points from February.

Food prices fell 0.2%, while non-food prices rose 2.6%. Among food products, pork prices fell by 38.8%, a slight decrease from the previous month.

Prices of eight categories of goods and services all rose year-on-year. 

In March, affected by factors such as the fall in consumer demand and sufficient supply after the holiday, food prices fell by 0.3% month-on-month.

Pork prices fell 7.4 percent, and fresh fruit prices fell 1.7 percent. In the first quarter of this year, the province's consumer price rose by 1.4% over the same period of the previous year.
