East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. JSBC has the story.
Jiangsu started construction of the 500 kV power transmission and transformation project from Fengcheng to Meili and the Haimen-Taicang Yangtze River Tunnel on Tuesday, laying a solid foundation for optimizing the regional transportation network, adjusting the regional energy structure, and promoting regional economic development.
The first guiding rope of the 500-kilovolt power transmission and transformation project from Fengcheng to Meili in Jiangsu, a key project of the National Power 13th Five-Year Plan, crossed the Yangtze River on Tuesday to connect two 385-meter power towers, the tallest transmission towers in the world.
Below the power supply line is the waters of the Yangtze River where about 2,000 ships sail past the river each day.
In order to ensure the smooth progress of the construction, the Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration has formulated a plan to implement temporary traffic control from below Nanjing to Liuhekou.
Nantong started the construction of the local part of the Yangtze River Tunnel from Haimen to Taicang. The tunnel is about 11.2 kilometers long and is currently the longest underwater shield tunnel with the largest cross-section in China.
