2054 doctors and nurses from Jiangsu province returned to Nanjing on Thursday afternoon after accomplishing the pairing-up support for epidemic prevention and control in Shanghai for the past two months.
The doctors and nurses got aboard buses to head for Jiangsu Thursday afternoon.
They were tasked with the treatment of confirmed cases at designated hospitals and mobile cabin hospitals in Shanghai.
The medical staff dispatched by Jiangsu to the mobile cabin hospitals in Shanghai come from five provincial hospitals that include the Provincial People's Hospital, the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Provincial Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the Zhongda Hospital of Southeast University, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and 173 medical institutions in Wuxi, Suzhou, Nantong and Zhenjiang.
Upon their arrival in Shanghai, the doctors and nurses from Jiangsu were commissioned to the operation of 8 wards with 7308 beds. They treated 26245 covid-19 cases over 47 days.
"We use a lot of non-drug therapies for our patients including guiding them to play Taijiquan, through the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine to maximize the therapeutic effect," said Jiang Hua, a member of the Jiangsu Medical Aid Team in Shanghai.
The Jiangsu medical aid team in Shanghai also organized 4 medical groups with 1170 doctors and nurses to aid the 4 designated hospitals in Shanghai in the treatment of the covid-19 cases.
The medical staff will be quarantined before returning to their posts in Jiangsu.
A 131-member medical aid team from Jiangsu are still dedicated to the treatment of covid-19 cases of critical symptoms in Shanghai Geriatrics Center and Shanghai Eighth People's Hospital.
