Jiangsu Provincial Health Security Administration organized the seventh round of centralized procurement of medical consumables on Tuesday in a bid to effectively reduce the medical burden of the people.
114 companies participated in this round of medical consumables procurement that involves special nerve coils, endoscopic staplers, ultrasonic scalpels, and vacuum blood collection tubes that are of large clinical usage, heavy patient burden, and high frequency of use.
After fierce bidding and negotiation, the prices of the four types of consumables were significantly reduced, enabling the province to save about 1.15 billion yuan in procurement funds every year.
The price of neural-specific coils dropped by an average of 54%, with a maximum drop of 69%. The price of laparoscopic staplers dropped by an average of 79%, with a maximum drop of 91%. This is one of the important instruments for laparoscopic surgery. If 1 stapler gun and 5 staple boxes are used for one surgery, the cost will be reduced from tens of thousands of yuan to about 3,500 yuan. The average price of ultrasonic cutter heads is reduced by 49%, and the average price of vacuum blood collection tubes is reduced by 37%.
Since 2019, Jiangsu has taken the lead in carrying out centralized procurement of coronary stents in the country.
Jiangsu has continued to carry out 7 rounds of centralized procurement of medical consumables, involving 18 kinds of consumables in cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, neurosurgery and other fields, with an average drop of over 54%, saving more than 3.85 billion yuan per year.
