East China’s Jiangsu province has spared no efforts to improve people's livelihood since the beginning of this year by successively launching a series of projects for people's livelihood and taking measures to benefit the people.
Hongqiao Park Road outside Hongqiao New Village, Chongchuan District, Nantong City is the main road for residents to travel. However, the road is damaged and cables are installed here and there, posing potential safety hazards.
Since the start of this year, the local government has implemented the "Year of Urban Renewal and Improvement" in a bid to thoroughly rectify these problems.
"We changed the cement-soil pavement to black asphalt pavement, moved all the power lines underground and organized the rain and sewage pipes to make the whole pavement look clean and tidy. We planted flowering plants such as begonias on both sides of the road to make the whole road present a more beautiful image," said Zhou Haoxiang, a staff member of the Urban Engineering Construction Management Center of Chongchuan District, Nantong City.
Hongqiao Park Road is not alone. This year, Chongchuan District will renovate 10 "most beautiful roads to return home" around old communities to provide convenience for residents' lives.
The local government has announced the design plans for these 10 roads. Construction will start in mid-September and will be scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
A few days ago, the Huai'an Public Security Bureau launched a "convenience service through coach" to enter communities, enterprises, and squares to handle 163 certificate registration for the public, including household registration, ID card registration, and driver's license registration.
"In summer, the weather is so hot so it is very close to my residence which reduces the time spent in queuing and facilitates quick processing," said Yang Jianqiang, an employee of Aoyang Shunchang Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.
"The convenience service through coach is equipped with three computers and a self-service medical examination machine. In the next step we will drive the convenience service through coach into communities, campuses, and squares, opening up the last mile of serving the people," said Wang Xiaofeng, Head of the Administrative Service Management Brigade of Qingjiangpu Branch of Huai'an Public Security Bureau.
