The large-scale immersive music and dance poem "Universal Grand Canal Yangzhou-Song of Qin and Cranes" premiered at the Yangzhou Canal Grand Theater on Sunday night.
The performance allowed the audience to start a magical journey through Yangzhou City. The 60-minute change of scenery made people appreciate the prosperity of Yangzhou in history. This also represents the official debut of Yangzhou's first large-scale music and dance poem with the theme of tourism.
"Universiade Yangzhou--Song of Qin and Crane" is based on the perspective of the female crane Lingqin, depicting a crane who has been practicing for a hundred years. Under the guidance of the fairy Guqin, it is transformed into a fantasy story of people enjoying the prosperous scenery of Yangzhou.
The performance is divided into five chapters: Pursuing the Way with the Sound, Prosperity of Fireworks, Spring Breeze and Bright Moon, Stormy Waves Seeing Your Heart, and Qin and Crane Singing Together.
Progressing from three levels of fireworks in the market, outstanding people and spiritual world, and spiritual world, it includes the familiar stories of Yangzhou, including the Helingqin Girl, the World in the Market, the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, Yangzhou Beauty, and Monk Jianzhen’s Journey to Japan, allowing the audience to immensely experience the heritage and nature of Yangzhou.
"We strive to be able to display a very exquisite stage presentation and to have a three-dimensional and rich display of Yangzhou's culture, humanities, history and even food, life and the living conditions of the local people," said Jin Miaomiao, Director of "The Universiade Yangzhou--Song of the Qin and Cranes".
With the help of advanced technology, "Song of the Qin and Crane" makes the whole play both professional and enjoyable through professional performance and dramatic connection, as if everyone can see what they have in mind.
In the wake of the 60-minute performance, the theater burst into thunderous applause.
"I watched this drama today and the biggest feeling was shock because the basic skills and actions from the choreography to the actors were very shocking. For those of us who love to dance, the performance has given us a spiritual encouragement," said a resident of Yangzhou.
