"Heart of Heaven and Earth--Meng Shu's Contemporary Glass Art Exhibition" opened on Sunday at Suzhou Jinji Lake Art Museum.
This exhibition focuses on the contemporary glass art works and large-scale glass art installations of 7 major themed series created by the Macao-based artist Meng Shu in the past 7 years.
The 40 pieces are all made by hand blowing with the most difficult craftsmanship that presents a magnificent image of the universe that is magnificent, beautiful and radiant by combining traditional handicrafts and contemporary art concepts.
"I specially created two large-scale installation works for this exhibition in Suzhou, one is called "Taiyi Lake" and the other is called "Heart of Heaven and Earth - Migration". In Suzhou, a place with beautiful nature and outstanding people, we can better think about our relationship with nature, ecology and the future," said Meng Shu, Macao Artist.
"Glass art is a combination of art and science which makes the audience feel psychedelic. Then the expression of this artistic language is different from that of general visual art, it is essentially a comprehensive manifestation and experience," said Li Chaode, Curator Director of Soochow University Museum.
Meng Shu donated his work "White Night" to Suzhou Jinji Lake Art Museum.
As hand-blown glass, the work consists of 140 hand-blown glass spheres of different sizes, which are translucent, beautiful and mysterious.
The exhibition will last until November 27. A series of public projects and art education activities will also be held, such as theme lectures, artist interviews, and works appreciation.
