The Eighth Congress of Jiangsu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese opened Wednesday in Nanjing. Among the leaders present at the opening ceremony were Wan Lijun, Secretary of the Party Group and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, and Zhang Yizhen, Chairwoman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference.
Wan Lijun, on behalf of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, congratulated the convening of the conference. He pointed out that the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have attached great importance to the work of the Overseas Chinese Federation by striving to grasp the new era, new mission and new pattern, build platforms, provide support, improve services, and create an environment to promote the development of the Overseas Chinese Federation in the province to a new level.
He hoped that the overseas Chinese federations at all levels in Jiangsu would adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strengthen the ideological and political guidance of the overseas Chinese and their relatives, continue to strengthen the work of the grassroots overseas Chinese federations, and improve the ability and level of serving the overseas Chinese, so as to build a modern socialist country in an all-round way, to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and to make new and greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Hui Jianlin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, pointed out that it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on overseas Chinese affairs by making efforts to enhance political stance, gain insight into the decisive significance that the Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
He hoped that the organization of overseas Chinese federations at all levels in the province would strengthen their political and advanced nature, continue to create a new situation for the cause of the Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation, and take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Medals and certificates were awarded at the opening ceremony to the outstanding figures in the overseas Chinese community in Jiangsu Province, "Advanced Individuals of Returned Overseas Chinese and Relatives of Overseas Chinese in Jiangsu Province", "Advanced Collectives and Advanced Workers of the Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese".
