Zhenjiang has continued to promote the coordinated governance of pollution reduction and carbon reduction by taking the lead in China to introduce the "Green Factory Evaluation Index System", implement 229 green transformation projects such as clean production, recycling of waste, and low-carbon energy, and shut down more than 500 chemical companies.

In the past ten years, Zhenjiang has increased its annual GDP by 6.8%, while its energy consumption per unit of GDP has decreased by 39.7%. Its carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP have decreased by 49%, and the annual average concentration of PM2.5 has decreased by 50%. Zhenjiang has been built into one of the first demonstration areas for ecological civilization construction in the country, and won the "China Habitat Environment Award".
