Nanjing recently issued the Trial Opinions on Promoting the Healthy Development of Tent Campgrounds in Nanjing. In recent years, camping has flourished, but it has also brought many safety hazards.
"There have been minor fires and minor accidents in the campground which have caused a certain degree of environmental impact. If the facilities are not perfect, the development of camping will bring some problems such as littering and destruction of vegetation, so we are actively facing these problems," said Wang Minhong, Deputy Director of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.
According to the statistics of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Nanjing has registered more than 100 tent campsites of various types.
Since July, the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has conducted on-the-spot investigations on a number of camping bases in Nanjing, solicited opinions from various parties, and launched "Opinions on Promoting the Healthy Development of Tent Campgrounds in Nanjing" to make specific requirements on the location, safety protection, environmental sanitation, facilities and equipment of tent camps.
As required, campers must set up a dedicated camping area and conduct a safety assessment.
The terrain of the site where the established camping area is located must be relatively flat, the slope should be controlled within 15°, and the disaster-prone areas including landslides and floods should be avoided.
"The exposed ground nails will cause some hidden safety hazards such as falling or children running. The ground nails we had before may have some exposed problems. In the future we may carry out some reinforcement or place some more reminders," said Ji Yunbei, Director of Operations of Luoshan Fireworks Camping Park in Shijiu Lake, Nanjing.
The camping document issued this time focuses on camping safety management by stipulating that emergency rescue points and tourist service consultation points must be set up in the camping area, and the campsite must be equipped with a corresponding number of security personnel to be on duty throughout the process.
"As long as there are tourists staying overnight at the camp, we have security guards on duty 24 hours a day. Such a guiding opinion enables us to have a clear reference in management in the future," said Zhu Jun, General Manager of Menghua Garden, Lishui District, Nanjing.
