Huang Qiang, a gantry crane operator of Zhangjiagang Port Group, has been acclaimed for his commitment to work since he began to work 22 years ago. He has been elected a delegate to the upcoming CPC National Congress. Let’s take a close look.
From a 25-meter-high angle, Huang Qiang has seen the dock for 22 years. Now there are fewer and fewer workers, but more and more green.
Huang Qiang became a portal crane driver in 2000. He would climb up the “Iron Giant” every day and repeated the same action for 12 hours in a cab less than 5 square meters.
In 2017, the Port Authority was required to ship a batch of prefabricated beams for the construction of Temburong Bridge of Brunei, a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative.
“When the length is about 12 meters and the weight is about 22 tons, at the beginning, we all arranged some teachers with good skills and rich experience to do the work but there might be collisions. Once touched, the pure cement will fall from the side, causing damage to the goods. I went up to the gantry crane and practiced for about a month. I summarized three operation methods for cement products”, Huang Qiang said.
In the past ten years, the wharf has changed its appearance. Huang Qiang has also won the honors of “National Model Worker” and “National Excellent Communist Party Member” by virtue of years of perseverance and innovation.
Now, with the addition of intelligence and digitalization, Huang Qiang and his team’s innovation focus has shifted from the big hook under the arm of the gantry crane to the interior of the gantry crane.
Huang Qiang said that in terms of technological innovation, it also brings more space and more possibilities to his work, and he will continue to stick to his position and contribute to the development of the port and the construction of a transportation power.
