East China’s Jiangsu province kicked off on Sunday morning the annual water diversion for the first phase of the East Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
At 10 on Sunday morning, the pump station of Jiangdu Water Control Project was put into operation, starting the 2022-2023 annual water transfer of the first phase of the East Line of the South to North Water Diversion Project.
This water transfer plan will supply 1.263 billion cubic meters of water to Shandong Province over a period of 139 days, making it a project with the largest amount of water and the longest duration.
Since it was opened in November 2013, the first phase of the East Line of the South to North Water Diversion Project has transferred 5.288 billion cubic meters of water to the north, effectively alleviating the water shortage in the north, becoming the lifeline for optimizing water resource allocation, ensuring people's drinking water safety, reviving the river and lake environment, and unblocking the north-south economic cycle.
