The 16th session of the Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council was held through video-link on Wednesday. Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jiangsu, addressed the event. Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Law of Singapore and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Singapore, also delivered a speech at the meeting.
Xu Kunlin expressed his warm welcome to all the guests and his gratitude to people from all walks of life that have long been concerned about and given support to Jiangsu’s development and its cooperation with Singapore.
He said that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China outlined a grand blueprint for comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese path to modernization.
In the face of adverse economic globalization, Singapore and Jiangsu have continued to deepen cooperation, and the issues agreed upon by the two sides have been thoroughly implemented to have born new fruits.
China, with a high level of openness and high-quality development, will create more market opportunities and investment opportunities for countries around the world, including Singapore, and will also provide the best stage for global enterprises, including Singapore, to take root in China and Jiangsu.
We will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Singapore, continue to make good use of the mechanism platform of the Singapore Jiangsu Cooperation Council, continue to uphold the purpose of "mutual trust, mutual assistance and mutual benefit", strengthen trade and investment cooperation, deepen scientific and technological innovation cooperation, promote green and low-carbon development, actively expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, continue to expand the results of cooperation, enrich the connotation of cooperation, improve the level of cooperation, and promote the integration and mutual promotion of the modernization development of both sides so as to promote cooperation between Singapore and Jiangsu and make new contributions to the development of China-Singapore relations.
Indranee Rajah said that the all-round cooperation between Singapore and Jiangsu has been continuously developed and deepened, and good relations have been established through the Singapore Jiangsu Cooperation Council, Suzhou Industrial Park, Singapore Nanjing Ecological Science and Technology Island and other key cooperation projects.
She said that despite the adverse impact of the continuing epidemic, trade and investment cooperation between the two sides has maintained a steady growth. Singaporean enterprises continue to be optimistic about Jiangsu by actively expanding their business, and make good progress in project cooperation in green and low-carbon, elderly care, urban renewal and other fields.
She hopes to further strengthen cooperation on green development and scientific and technological innovation, give full play to Singapore's advantages to help Jiangsu's enterprises in the process of internationalization, and promote Singapore-Jiangsu cooperation to a new level and bear new fruits in a new round of cooperation cycle.
During the meeting, Xu Kunlin and Ying Lanni signed the sixth round of cooperation memorandum of the Singapore Jiangsu Cooperation Council. Representatives of the two sides held discussions on topics such as "strengthening green and low-carbon economic cooperation, promoting high-quality development of economic, trade and investment in New Jiangsu", "deepening the link of scientific and technological resources, and promoting the coordinated innovation and development of Singapore and Jiangsu". 15 key cooperation projects were released.
Making summary speeches on behalf of both sides were Fang Wei, vice governor of Jiangsu and vice director of the Jiangsu-Singapore cooperation council, and Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Health and Human Resources of Singapore and vice director of the Jiangsu-Singapore cooperation council.
