East China’s Jiangsu province has introduced a pilot work plan for digital RMB, according to a document recently released by the General Office of the Provincial People's Government. Let’s take a close look.
According to the work plan, Jiangsu will promote the application of digital RMB and test the stability, functional availability, process convenience, scenario applicability and risk controllability of the digital RMB system.
By the end of 2025, Jiangsu will basically form a digital RMB operation and management system with convenient and efficient services, wide application coverage and relatively complete ecosystem.
The work plan gives specific objectives in terms of application scale, innovative products and ecosystem.
Among the nine key tasks, five involve the layout of application scenarios for digital RMB, covering all aspects of people's life and economic development, according to the work plan.
Jiangsu will encourage people to use digital RMB to pay for living expenses, transportation and cultural tourism, and support the exploration of digital RMB to serve the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the construction of the Jiangsu Pilot Free Trade Zone, green development, scientific and technological innovation and other major strategies and important areas.
Jiangsu will vigorously expand the application in retail payment, steadily expand the application in the public fields, constantly enrich the application in the inclusive field, and actively explore the application in major strategic fields.
Efforts will be made to accelerate the creation of characteristic demonstration applications, focus on building an open application ecosystem, continue to carry out publicity and promotion activities, attach importance to improving the supervision of digital RMB, and establish and improve the risk prevention and control system.
