The first batch of 12 trucks of container houses produced in Suzhou will be sent to quake-hit areas in Türkiye soon to provide transitional accommodation for local residents.
Following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Türkiye, two color coated steel manufacturers in Zhenze Town, Suzhou, namely Wujiang Saima Color Coated Steel Manufacturing Co Ltd and Suzhou Anshiju Integrated Housing Technology Co Ltd, have carried out relief projects worth 90 million yuan in affected regions. Starting from last Saturday, the two companies make 300 container houses per day and are expected to finish shipping within a month.
With each divided into three areas and big enough to accommodate a family of three, the total 750 trucks of container houses will solve the accommodation problem troubling tens of thousands of local people, according to Shen Xuefeng, manager of the production department of Wujiang Saima Color Coated Steel Manufacturing Co Ltd.
"When a disaster strikes in one location, help comes from all quarters. We hope the container houses from Zhenze can shelter people in Türkiye and contribute to international humanitarian assistance," said Zhang Chunming, president of Assembled Building Industry Association of Wujiang District.
