East China’s Jiangsu province created 316 thousand jobs for urban people in the first quarter of this year, ranking first in the country, local sources said on Wednesday.
Since the beginning of this year, 5304 online or offline job fairs have been held in various parts of Jiangsu. The province has released 2.109 million job vacancies that have attracted over 2.34 million job seekers.
The province has transported 64.8 thousand people to enterprises across the province by chartering 5 flights, 20 trains, and 1438 coaches.
“The job stability subsidies provided by the government have played a significant role. The government has chartered vehicles to transport workers to the workshops, which has made enterprises worry-free,” said Jiang Tianhong, Human Resources Manager of Hongyibai Lighting Co., Ltd.
Jiangsu will record 730 thousand college graduates this year, reaching a new high. Since March, Jiangsu has held a large number of job fairs on university campuses. At a recent campus job fair held in Huai'an, 200 companies provided over 6200 job vacancies in sectors such as equipment manufacturing, computers, and new materials.
“The job fair is particularly large. The positions I hope to obtain include equipment engineer and process engineer, with a monthly salary ranging from 7000 to 8000 yuan,” said a would-be graduate.
“The internship position allows us to better understand our future plans, understand the needs of various positions, and provide a buffer period before finding a job,” said a would-be graduate.
Jiangsu has also provided comprehensive services such as policy consultation, job recommendation, and skill training for the job seekers so as to make it convenient for them to seek employment and find jobs that are not far from their homes.
“We rely on the human resources and social security service stations to collect the training needs of job seekers. The training courses include barista pastry chef and Internet marketer. We provide free training and certification for the unemployed,” said Dai Sufang, Vice Principal of Jinchang Vocational Training School in Suzhou.
Statistics show that from January to March, Jiangsu provided job subsidies to help enterprises reduce their burden by nearly 3.4 billion yuan. The province also provided 316 thousand jobs for urban job seekers, accounting for over 1/10 of the national total. In March, Jiangsu recorded an urban survey unemployment rate of 4.6%, 0.7 percentage points lower than the national average.
“Since the beginning of this year, human resources and social security departments at all levels in Jiangsu have made targeted efforts from both supply and demand sides by focusing on alleviating structural employment conflicts and promoting efficient allocation of the employment market. In the next step, we will accelerate the adjustment of policies and measures to stabilize employment, fully promote development and benefit people's livelihoods, and promote the achievement of high-quality employment,” said Xue Yong, Director of the Employment Promotion Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.
