East China’s Jiangsu province launched a themed activity on Wednesday to promote green concepts and advocate low-carbon life through various fun interactive experiences. Wednesday marks the National Low Carbon Day, and this year's theme is "actively addressing climate change and promoting green and low-carbon development".
At 9:00 am on Wednesday, nearly a hundred people from the ecological and environmental department in Nanjing, as well as representatives of the residents from local communities, gathered at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center to participate in a fun green cycling competition to earn carbon credits by cycling.
The participants must choose their travel lanes and consumption methods based on different signs to earn carbon credits so that they can redeem prizes. The organizer also issued low-carbon young cyclist certificates to the children who were involved in the competition in a bid to advocate a low-carbon life and starting from a young age.
“I have learned many tips for low-carbon life, such as taking public transportation as much as possible, such as buses, subways, and bicycles, as well as saving water and electricity. I hope to contribute to environmental protection through my practical actions”, Fang Qianhan, Primary school student in Nanjing, said.
In the Sanjiang Community of Jingjiang county, under the guidance of environmental volunteers, teenagers listened to stories on the making of coral reefs and understand the difficulties faced by coral reefs.
“This is a large group of corals, and these blue colors are the ocean. We should take good care of nature in our daily lives”, a student said.
