The world's first hydrogen energy smart tram manufactured by an enterprise in Wujiang District of Suzhou was loaded on Wednesday and will be exported via the Port of Shanghai to Malaysia. These smart trams will become the first batch of products delivered to Southeast Asia by China, helping China to better serve the Belt and Road countries with "intelligent manufacturing".

This intelligent tram adopts a hydrogen energy power system for the first time, which boasts the advantages of longer range, shorter hydrogenation time, lower carbon, energy conservation, and environmental protection.

The upgrading of intelligent design is highly consistent with Malaysia's demand for achieving zero emission and intelligent public transport system.

“This is an environmentally friendly product because there are only battery fuel cells and hydrogen gas in the car. After the hydrogen gas is burned, it only produces water and no other emissions such as carbon dioxide”, Zhao Junkui, General Manager of Overseas Business Unit of Zhongcheng Metro Holding Group Co., Ltd., said.

The range of 245 kilometers makes it currently the longest among all intelligent trams in the world.

This batch of intelligent trams includes 38 hydrogen powered smart rails, with a value of nearly 2 billion yuan and a total length of 69 kilometers. After arriving in Malaysia, a 3-month trial run will be conducted in Kuching City and used for urban transportation services.

“We will deliver to customers in batches next year. All vehicles will be used as the trunk line of Kuching’s urban transportation and become the substitute products of light rail after delivery to customers”, Zhao Junkui, General Manager of the Overseas Business Unit of Zhongcheng Metro Holding Group Co., Ltd., said.
