The 2023 Cross Strait Youth Culture Month opened in Suzhou on Wednesday. This Youth Culture Month is intended to exchange the innovative development of the Chinese culture, tell new stories about cultural heritage, show the fashionable life of youth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and promote youth on both sides of the Straits to strengthen integration by inheriting excellent traditional Chinese culture.
Song Tao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary and Governor of Jiangsu Province, Li Qianlong, former Secretary General of the Kuomintang, and other people from all walks of life and youth representatives on both sides of the Straits attended the opening ceremony and the main event. Hui Jianlin and Cao Lubao, both leaders of Jiangsu Province, also attended the opening ceremony.
This Youth Culture Month is co-sponsored by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the Jiangsu Provincial Government, and undertaken by the Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province and the Suzhou Municipal Government.
From late July to mid-September, 21 activities will be held, including intangible cultural heritage, calligraphy and painting, embroidery, Beijing Opera, film, beauty, traditional Chinese medicine, youth employment and entrepreneurship, such as Taiwan Youth Job Fair, Mei Lanfang Arts and Culture Week, Cross Strait Embroidery Craftsman Dialogue, Cross Strait Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and Cross Strait Youth Film Exhibition. It is expected that nearly 1500 Taiwanese youth will participate in these activities.
The organizers hope that young people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits can deeply experience the inheritance and development of China's excellent traditional culture, jointly discuss the traditional culture in daily life such as clothing, food, housing and transportation, and promote young people on both sides of the Straits to jointly inherit the excellent traditions of Chinese culture.
Before the opening ceremony, Song Tao visited the Taiwan Youth Job Fair to conduct research and meet with Taiwanese youth. He expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping has placed great hopes on the young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to work together, adding that efforts will be made to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and create better conditions for young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to learn from each other, and provide more convenience for Taiwanese youth to study, find jobs, start businesses, and live in the Chinese mainland.
