East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to promote the construction of a modern industrial system, according to a press conference held Tuesday morning by the provincial government’s information office.
The manufacturing industry is the core of building a modern industrial system. In the first half of this year, Jiangsu recorded an 8.3% increase in the added value of industries above designated size, higher than the national average. The province recorded a growth rate of 29.6% in the export of electric manned vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells, ranking first in the country in total.
In June, Jiangsu issued the "Action Plan for Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Manufacturing Province" to clarify the goal of accelerating the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse with leading quality and efficiency and international competitiveness.
Jiangsu will further strengthen the industrial chain and industrial cluster, implement the cultivation plan for building peak and strong chain enterprises, accelerate the leap of the industry towards the mid to high end, supplement and extend the chain, promote the formation of a "point chain surface" combination in the enterprise technology innovation system, and focus on creating an industrial innovation highland. In addition, Jiangsu will also focus on intelligent transformation and digital transformation, focusing on leading the nationwide integration of the digital economy and the real economy.
“We will promote over 60 thousand industrial enterprises above designated size to gradually achieve digital, networked, and intelligent transformation, promote the digital upgrading of a wide range of small and medium-sized enterprises, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system with intelligent and integrated industrial development”, Xu Jun, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said.
Strategic emerging industries are an important driving forces for cultivating and strengthening new growth points, accelerating the transformation of old and new driving forces, and building a new development pattern.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu continued to expand the scale of emerging industries. The output value of high-tech and strategic emerging industries accounted for 49.6% and 41.1% of the industries above designated size, up 0.7 and 1.3 percentage points from a year ago.
In the next step, Jiangsu will focus on the integration and cluster development of strategic emerging industries, and make greater efforts to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system.
“We focus on the direction of key industries such as integrated circuit, biomedicine, digital transformation, satellite Internet, promote relevant enterprises and research institutes in the province to undertake key core technology research, promote the development of strategic emerging industry integration clusters, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system with integrity, progressiveness and security”, Gao Qing, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, said.
