Nanjing Lukou Airport started on Tuesday to restore transfer channel for international intermodal flights in a bid to facilitate travel.
“I am currently in the international arrival area of Terminal T2 at Nanjing Lukou International Airport. In the past, passengers had to exit and complete a series of cumbersome procedures for re-entry. After the resumption of the international transfer channel, they are able to start their next journey in this area”, Shen Can, JSBC staff reporter, said.
“During the long transit, you can taste the delicious food of Nanjing at the airport. There is no need to claim your luggage here, and a series of procedures are very fast and convenient, making passengers feel very friendly. In the future, we may also choose to make transit in Nanjing”, a foreign Passenger, said.
The rapid transit procedures for 19 passengers took only 30 minutes. Previously, international transit passengers had to undergo health quarantine, entry inspection, baggage claim inspection before going to the international departure floor for check-in. The entire process involved multiple procedures and a relatively long walking distance.
“Since the resumption of the Nanjing-Sydney flight route on July 18th, we have noticed a sharp increase in transit passengers from South Korea to Australia via Nanjing, but they had poor experience of customs clearance. We took the initiative to organize relevant units at the airport, seek support from customs and border inspection agencies, and guide airports and airlines in business process reshuffling and equipment transformation”, Guan Xiaoli, Deputy Director of the Land and Airport Department of the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, said.
“We have established a team for connecting flights and arranged attendants to be responsible for the layout of transit channels, the setting of customs clearance equipment, and the optimization of customs clearance processes”, Jin Jun, Chief of the Travel Inspection Department of Nanjing Lukou International Airport Customs, said.
