East China’s Jiangsu province will implement a large-scale increase in the yield of major grain and oil crops so as to continuously enhance the stable and safe supply capacity of grain and important agricultural products.
Focusing on major grain and oil crops such as rice, wheat, soybean, corn, and rapeseed, Jiangsu will carry out in-depth actions to increase yield per unit area, integrate production factors such as land, varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural machinery, and field management, strengthen scientific and technological innovation, policy support, and collaborative research, and promote large-scale yield increase and balanced yield increase.
Focusing on key elements such as improved varieties, methods, and opportunities, Jiangsu will accelerate the breeding and promotion of varieties, guide the direction of variety research and development to match the demand for high yield and efficiency, select and promote a batch of varieties with high yield potential, high yield and stress resistance, and enhance the supply guarantee capacity of improved varieties.
Jiangsu will also strive to organize grain and oil production and operation entities and farmers to cultivate high-quality farmers, improve technical skills, accelerate agricultural machinery research and development, and promote the application of laser satellite leveling and rice blanket seedling planting.
Jiangsu will strive to promote the annual increase of soybean yield by 1-2 percentage points, wheat and corn yield by 1 percentage point, and rice and rapeseed yield by 0.2-0.5 percentage points through full factor integration and hierarchical implementation so as to ensure that the province’s average yield of major grain and oil crops will increase by about 5% by 2030.
