The Taihu Lake Laboratory Marine Equipment Technology Collaborative Innovation Center was established in Wuxi on Tuesday afternoon.
Seven new member units, including Fudan University, Soochow University and China Aviation Radio Electronics Research Institute, officially joined "the Taihu Lake Bay Research Institute Alliance". Inaugurated at the opening ceremony were the Jiangsu Province High Computing Power Chip Design Innovation Consortium and the Taihu Lake Laboratory Marine Equipment Technology Collaborative Innovation Center.
“We have given full play to the leading advantages of the Taihu Lake Laboratory in the national deep-sea strategy, and made use of the technological achievements generated by our national major projects in deep-sea equipment to make industrial transformation, such as precision manufacturing, as well as the manufacturing of special metal materials and composite materials, so as to promote the industrial development of the Binhu District and the entire Wuxi”, He Chunrong, Director of the China Shipbuilding Science Research Center, said.
Binhu District has gathered a large number of provincial and ministerial universities, research institutes, and new research and development institutions, including Jiangnan University, China Shipbuilding Science Research Center, National Supercomputing Wuxi Center, and Tsinghua University Wuxi Applied Technology Research Institute.
In recent years, local governments have continuously transformed the innovation capabilities of research institutes into strong growth engines driving local industrial upgrading and regional development.
“We will continue to explore the technological wealth in the resources of the institutes, and strive to achieve an annual growth rate of 25% in terms of the institutes' contribution to the local economy”, Yang Zhenqing, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Binhu District, Wuxi City, said.
