East China’s Jiangsu province kicked off themed activities of Charity Day of China and Jiangsu Charity Week on Monday to mark the 8th edition of the China Charity Day which falls on September 5th this year.
This event is sponsored by the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and the Provincial Charity Federation, and organized by the Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau and the Nanjing Charity Federation.
Li Xiaomin, President of the Provincial Charity Federation, said that in the future, Jiangsu's charity work will focus on promoting charity culture to cultivate citizens' charity awareness, expand charity fundraising channels to accurately implement assistance projects, strengthening awareness of charity laws and regulations to solidly promote the practice of good deeds in accordance with the law.
At the event site, the "Jiangsu Province Volunteer Service Agreement Demonstration Text (Trial)" was released and flags were awarded to 8 excellent volunteer teams in Nanjing.
Dongshan Primary School in Nanjing and Dongshanqiao Junior High School in Jiangning District were awarded the title of "Demonstration Education Base for Campus Charity Culture Construction in Primary and Secondary Schools" in Jiangsu Province.
A charity development promotion exhibition area was set up at the event site, vividly showcasing the achievements of charity development in Jiangsu in recent years.
So far, Jiangsu has registered or recognized 813 charitable organizations, registered 56 charitable trusts, and has a property scale of 289 million yuan. The province has cultivated 22 million volunteers, established over 100 thousand volunteer service teams, and identified 4538 volunteer service organizations. 99800 certified social workers have achieved full coverage of social work service stations at the township and sub-district levels.
