East China’s Jiangsu province will make every effort to promote the development of a manufacturing powerhouse by strengthening the support for real economy, according to a press conference held Wednesday by the provincial government.
Since the implementation of the "Action Plan for Accelerating the Construction of a Manufacturing Powerhouse" at the end of June, Jiangsu has made every effort to promote the implementation of 27 key tasks in a bid to promote the sustained recovery of the economy.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu recorded an increase of 8.3% in the added value of industries above designated size, higher than the national evaluation. From January to August, Jiangsu recorded a 2.5% increase in industrial invoicing and a 6.3% increase in industrial electricity consumption, further demonstrating the role of industrial "ballast stones".
In the next step, Jiangsu will continue to build six major systems to provide solid support and demonstration for advancing the Chinese path to modernization. In terms of building the "1650" industrial development system, the province has made it clear that 16 advanced manufacturing clusters and 50 industrial chains will be the overall focus of building a manufacturing powerhouse so as to promote and strengthen the industrial chain.
“Jiangsu will build a gradient cultivation system for world-class, national, and provincial-level advanced manufacturing industry clusters, deepen the strengthening of the industrial chain, establish a database of about 5000 key enterprises, and optimize the establishment of special funds for the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse around four major directions that include enterprise technological innovation, ‘intelligent transformation, digital transformation’, and the construction of a traditional industry revitalization service system,” said Chi Yu, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.
By building six major systems, Jiangsu will further strengthen traditional industries, develop emerging industries, cultivate future industries, accelerate the formation of new quality productivity, and enhance new development momentum.
