Over the course of two days when the 2023 TV Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization States was held in Nanjing on Tuesday and Wednesday, extensive and in-depth thematic dialogues, creative audiovisual content and technology exhibitions, rich and diverse audiovisual works exhibitions, and a series of exchange activities have further deepened exchanges and cooperation in audiovisual communication in the SCO radio and television network which has enhanced unity, mutual trust, and people-to-people communication.
In the thematic dialogue, guests from various countries conducted heated discussions by focusing on "policy exchange dialogue", "deepening practical cooperation, telling the story of SCO well", and "strengthening integration and innovation, and empowering high-quality development through technology".
They said that as an important component of the SCO's people-to-people exchange, the cooperation in radio, television and audiovisual media plays an important role in enhancing the strength of the "SCO family" in terms of good-neighbor relationship, unity and mutual trust, and promoting mutual learning between civilizations.
“At this TV festival, I had the privilege of hearing insightful insights from various SCO member countries on media and cultural exchanges, and further learning from the advanced experiences of other countries. I am very grateful to China for hosting such a grand TV festival, which provides a beneficial platform for promoting media cooperation among SCO member countries”, Sulman Shah Rashid, Director of the Information Office, Pakistan, said.
“There is a folk saying in our country that if an event is not reported on television, it is equivalent to not having happened, which shows the importance of television. This TV festival has built a platform for people to get to know each other and is also conducive to carrying out high-quality cooperation projects”, Marat Markau, Chairman of the Management Board of ONT of the Republic of Belarus, said.
With the theme of "Strengthening Audiovisual Cooperation and Promoting Shared Development", the TV Festival held themed dialogues, radio, television and audiovisual technology exhibition in addition to releasing the Cooperation Initiative on Comprehensively Deepening Audiovisual Cooperation and Promoting Shared Development. The exhibition of audio-visual works from SCO states will be on display from September to December.
In recent years, in accordance with the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders of the SCO countries, China has actively engaged in exchanges and cooperation with SCO countries so as to have cemented the cultural ties between the SCO countries and promoted mutual understanding and affinity among people of the respective countries.
“The initiative released at this meeting is very necessary due to the increasingly evident trend of media integration. We hope that important member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, such as China and Russia, can share more of their advanced experiences in digital media and new technologies, and promote the common prosperity and development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's broadcasting and television media industry”, Marat Aitov, Head of Analysis and Planning Department of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, said.
“At present, Russia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan have conducted exchanges and exchanges in the field of media resources. We also hope to carry out activities such as co-production, translation, exhibition, and media interaction with China's radio, television, audio-visual and literary works, promote cultural and cultural exchanges among SCO countries, and enhance popular communication”, Dauletkhan Zhienkul, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Khabar Agency JSC, the Republic of Kazakhstan, said.
