Jiangsu reports booming tourism market during holiday

East China’s Jiangsu province reported tourism upsurge during the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival holidays. 

During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, Jiangsu received a total of 71.1848 million domestic tourists and recorded a total tourism revenue of 90.759 billion yuan, up 25.1% and 25.8% from 2019.

623 A-level scenic spots and 195 key rural tourism villages at the provincial-level or above received 50.9524 million tourists and recorded a total tourist consumption of 20.221 billion yuan, up 38.30% and 40.28% respectively from 2019.

The top three A-level scenic spots in the province in terms of tourist reception are the Qinhuai River Scenic Belt Scenic Area, Zhongshan Scenic Area and Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, and the Pingjiang Historical Street in Suzhou.

The top three cultural and museum venues in terms of visitor reception are the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, the Nanjing Museum, and the China Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou.

According to UnionPay data, during the 8-day holiday, Jiangsu recorded a total of 19.233 billion yuan in cultural and tourism consumption, accounting for 10.47% of the national total.
