Since the pairing and co-construction of Suzhou and Suqian in 2001 as a model of North-South cooperation in Jiangsu, Suzhou and Suqian have been continuously striving to promote North-South cooperation and common prosperity, as is evidenced by the recent inclusion of Suzhou-Suqian Industrial Park as one of the top ten in the comprehensive evaluation list of jointly-sponsored parks in Jiangsu for thirteen consecutive years.
In the past 22 years, the Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park has transformed from a rural farmland into a modern new city that integrates industry and city, becoming the first provincial-level joint construction park approved for high-quality development and innovation pilot park in the province. It is also the only north-south joint construction park created as a provincial-level development zone in the province.
“The environment here where I work is like a Suzhou garden, allowing me to enjoy both work and life. Besides, I have settled my home here,” said a resident of Suqian.
Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park inherits the same service concept as Suzhou Industrial Park, attracting more and more representative industry leading enterprises from Suzhou to settle in Suqian.
Nichicon (Electronics) Suqian Co., Ltd. is the first Japanese-funded enterprise to relocate from Suzhou Industrial Park to Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park in 2011 and has since undergone four capital increases and production expansions.
According to Minamide Tomiura, Chairman and General Manager of Nijikang Electronics (Suqian) Co., Ltd., that from initially producing only aluminum electrolytic capacitors for computers and game consoles, to expanding the second phase of the factory to producing car thin film capacitors for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. He thinks coming to Suqian for investment is a very correct choice, and there will be plans to expand the third and fourth phases in the future.
So far, Suzhou has sent over 300 officials and technical personnel in six batches to participate in the development and construction of the Suqian Industrial Park, and a group of Suzhou cadres have started businesses in Suqian. In the past two years, Suzhou and Suqian have comprehensively explored expanding cooperation in more fields such as the Federation of Industry and Commerce, agriculture and rural areas by formulating and implementing 112 public service gap-filling projects in education, health, and some other fields.
“In the next step, we will solidly promote common prosperity, strive to create a first-class regional cross-border cooperation park in China, and make more contributions to the province’s high-quality development of Suzhou and Suqian,” said Cui Guangquan, Deputy Secretary General of Suqian Municipal Government/Deputy Director of Suzhou-Suqian Industrial Park Administration.
In the past 22 years, Suzhou and Suqian have developed six joint industrial parks, including Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park, Wujiang Siyang Industrial Park, Kunshan Shuyang High-tech Industrial Park, Changshu Sihong Industrial Park, Zhangjiagang Suyu Industrial Park, and Wuzhong Sucheng Industrial Park.
Occupying 0.82% of Suqian's land, these joint industrial parks generate 9% of Suqian's industrial invoicing sales revenue and 9.7% of Suqian's industrial added value. Suqian has so far undertaken 980 various investment projects transferred from Suzhou to bring 219.8 billion yuan in investment and employ nearly 530 thousand people.
