East China’s Jiangsu province will strive to promote the quality of talent cultivation in liberal arts and social sciences towards international levels, according to a document issued by the Provincial Department of Education on accelerating the construction of new liberal arts and social sciences in universities.
Jiangsu currently has over 4000 undergraduate degree programs, including over 1800 in liberal arts, accounting for approximately 45% of the total. Jiangsu will implement the Jiangsu New Liberal Arts Education and Teaching System Innovation Plan, the Cross disciplinary Talent Cultivation Pioneer Zone Construction Plan, the Great Lecture Hall Plan, and the "Reading Classic" - Jiangsu College Student Reading Action Plan.
“Jiangsu will comprehensively explore its cultural heritage, extensively invite renowned scholars and industry masters, focus on building a new liberal arts lecture hall, further increase reform and innovation efforts, promote the development of ideas, talents, and achievements in new liberal arts education in universities, and strive to build a liberal arts talent training system with world level, Chinese characteristics, and Jiangsu features”, Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, said.
