The water conservancy department in east China’s Jiangsu province has accelerated the construction of key water conservancy projects since the beginning of this year by injecting a record high investment of 15.689 billion yuan as of the end of September.
At the construction site of Section II in Huaiyin District, Huai'an City, more than 60 sets of large machinery were operating at full capacity to carry out operations on the embankment roads, slope protection, and supporting buildings of the Hongze Lake.
The flood detention area project around Hongze Lake will restore 8.55 square kilometers of water surface and increase the storage capacity by 11.6 million cubic meters, which is of great significance for regional economic development, ecological construction, and safety assurance.
“We will increase investment in machinery to ensure faster progress. We must complete Section II by the end of this year and complete the entire project by the end of April and early May next year”, Zhou Jianhua, Director of the Water Conservancy Key Engineering Construction Department in Huaiyin District, Huai'an City, said.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has accelerated the construction of major water conservancy projects. The Huaihe River estuary waterway, the second phase of the national backbone water network project, has completed an investment of 7.428 billion yuan, accounting for 92.85% of the annual construction task.
Statistics show that as of the end of September, Jiangsu recorded a construction investment of 15.689 billion yuan in key water conservancy projects, accounting for 87.2% of the annual construction task.
