East China’s Jiangsu province has demonstrated sustained growth in the first three quarters, according to the economic performance analysis of the first three quarters announced on Wednesday by the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Statistics and the Jiangsu Team of the National Bureau of Statistics.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a gross domestic product of 9318 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. The province recorded an added value of 276.01 billion yuan in the primary industry, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, and 4098.59 billion yuan in the secondary industry, a year-on-year increase of 6.6% and 4943.4 billion yuan in the tertiary industry, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%.
With the implementation and effectiveness of policy measures to promote the overall improvement of economic operation, Jiangsu has recorded the continuous optimization of the industrial economic operating environment and the improvement of operating quality.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 7.2% in the added value of industries above designated size. Among the 40 major categories of industrial industries, 30 industries saw year-on-year growth in added value. Eight of the top ten industries in terms of added value have seen year-on-year growth. The electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry and the automotive manufacturing industry reported year-on-year growth by 16.8% and 16.4% respectively.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year growth of 5.7% in fixed assets investment, 0.2 percentage points higher than that in the first half of the year and 0.7 percentage points higher than that in the first quarter. Manufacturing investment continued to grow rapidly. In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year growth of 10.7% in manufacturing investment, which was 5 percentage points higher than the total investment. The electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, automobile manufacturing industry, and rubber and plastic products industry increased by 50.0%, 32.3%, and 22.1%, respectively.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu witnessed effective stimulation of consumer vitality with the province's consumer goods market maintaining stable and orderly development. In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded 3387.41 billion yuan in total retail sales of consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%. the catering industry recorded a revenue of 350.82 billion yuan, up 19% year on year.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a per capita disposable income of 40286 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. In the third quarter, the province recorded 4.6% in the average surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the first half of the year.
