East China’s Jiangsu province is expecting 680 billion yuan in the added value of its marine industry by 2030, according to the 20th Anniversary High Quality Development Summit of Yangkou Port Construction held in Nanjing on Tuesday.
In recent years, the industry in Yangkou Port Area has surged to feed back the quality of urban development. Yangkou Port is developing from a promising deep-water port in the East to an important intersection for China's west-to-east gas transmission, south-north gas transmission and sea gas landing.
At the summit, experts and scholars from all over the world pointed new development paths for Yangkou Port from aspects such as its position and development focus in the world-class port group of the Yangtze River Delta, the development plan for Yangkou Port from 2023 to 2035, and the collaborative development path between Yangkou Port and Rudong's green energy industry chain.
“Yangkou Port has played a very important role in driving the development of industries in the regional economy, better realizing the cooperation between rivers and seas and developing the urban intermodal transportation system, achieving the mutual promotion of domestic circulation and international circulation. In the future, we need to better rely on the coordinated interaction between various ports along the Yangtze River and the coastal areas of Jiangsu and the coordinated development of various transportation methods to create efficient internal and external circulation links, supporting the industrial chain and supply chain to continuously move towards the mid-to-high end,” Wang Wei, Director of the Market Economy Research Institute of the Development Research Center of the State Council, said.
In recent years, Jiangsu has made every effort to promote the construction of a marine powerhouse. By 2030, Jiangsu is expected to report an added value of over 680 billion yuan in the marine industry, doubling the amount from 2022, and basically building an important innovation highland for the marine industry in China.
