This year marks the tenth anniversary of the joint construction of "the Belt and Road" initiative. China and Serbia signed a commercial contract for the procurement of high-speed EMUs, making it the first time for China to export high-speed EMUs to Europe. CRRC Qishuyan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., located in Changzhou, will provide gear transmission systems, air cylinder modules, and supporting products for trains to assist in safe operation on the Hungary-Serbia Railway.
The 341.7-km Hungary-Serbia railway is the flagship project of "the Belt and Road" jointly built by China and Central and Eastern European countries.
The contracted trains are power dispersed electric multiple units, including 20 high-speed multiple units, with a 4-car formation and a maximum operating speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
CRRC Qishuyan Station located in Changzhou provides the core component of the train, the gear transmission system.
According to the European technical specifications and standards for interconnectivity, as well as the specific needs of the Hungarian Serbian railway, CRRC Qishuyan took one and a half years to build the gearbox.
“From raw materials, even a small and inconspicuous item like a bolt fastener, it must fully comply with European standards,” said Jin Siqin, Chief Designer of the Technical Research and Development Center of CRRC Qishuyan Institute.
CRRC Qishuyan has also provided air cylinder modules and supporting air cylinder products for the Hungary-Serbia high-speed railway, completing the third overseas high-speed railway project after the Jakarta Bandung high-speed railway and the North African internal combustion multiple unit.
Under "the Belt and Road" initiative, CRRC Qishuyan Research Institute has exported more than 1000 parts to Kazakhstan over the past four years. On the 1035 km long China-Laos railway, CRRC Qishuyan Research Institute has provided basic braking devices, gear boxes, couplings and other products for the "Lancang" multiple units.
“Since 2013, we have actively shifted our development focus to "the Belt and Road" countries, including more than 20 countries or regions, such as Chile, Romania, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Egypt and Nigeria. More than ten years have passed, and the amount of our order has increased from less than 20 million yuan ten years ago to about 300 million yuan at present with the Belt and Road countries accounting for more than 35%,” said Chen Jian, Overseas Market Development Specialist at CRRC Qishuyan Institute.
From exporting products to exporting services, CRRC Qishuyan Company has actively catered to the development needs of rail transit in various countries around the world by exporting products to more than 20 countries and regions on five continents overseas, and building service construction platforms in multiple places.
Since 2013, CRRC Qishuyan has exported over 250 diesel locomotives to more than 10 countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Guinea, Thailand, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, etc.
