A symposium to commemorate the 170th anniversary of Mr. Zhang Jian's birth was held in Nantong on Sunday. Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the All China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Hui Jianlin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, attended the event.
Zhang Jian was an outstanding patriotic figure in modern China, a renowned industrialist, educator, and social activist. On July 21, 2020 when attending an entrepreneur symposium, General Secretary Xi Jinping praised Zhang Jian as a model of patriotic entrepreneurs. On November 12 of the same year, the General Secretary visited Nantong for inspection and praised Zhang Jian as a pioneer and model of Chinese private entrepreneurs.
Gao Yunlong said that today we commemorate Mr. Zhang Jian in order to better inherit his entrepreneurial spirit. He hoped that Jiangsu can make good use of the Zhang Jian Entrepreneur College, making it the "cradle" for the healthy growth of the most influential entrepreneurs in the country.
He demanded that all levels of industry and commerce federations should serve as bridges and bonds, educate and guide more private entrepreneurs to further promote the entrepreneurial spirit, and make new and greater contributions to the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Hui Jianlin said that the high-quality development of Jiangsu is inseparable from the high-quality development of the private economy and the joint efforts of numerous entrepreneurs. He hoped that entrepreneurs can learn from Mr. Zhang Jian's patriotism, pioneering spirit, integrity, sense of responsibility, and open mindedness, showcasing their sense of responsibility and continuing their glory in serving the country through industry, and further expanding the space for career development.
