The construction of the China Europe Industrial Innovation Zone was launched at the 2023 China Europe Industrial Innovation Cooperation Conference held in Wuxi High tech Zone on Wednesday.
Senior officials of the European Commission, ambassadors to China, leaders of some key European enterprises, the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and provincial and municipal leaders attended the conference.
Wuxi signed a number of Sino European cooperation projects, such as the German Siemens Group Medium Voltage Intelligent Equipment Digital Factory, the Swedish Atlas Copco Group Compressor and Power Technology New Factory, and the French Schneider Electric Group Green Smart Industrial Base.
The city also unveiled the establishment of the EU Project (Wuxi) Innovation Center, the China Europe Vaccine Research and Development and Industrial Cooperation Center, and the Fraunhofer Sino German (Wuxi) Innovation Center.
“The Wuxi High-tech Zone has provided us with good development conditions, making Wuxi an ideal location for establishing a Sino German innovation center. The function of the Sino German Innovation Center is to establish cooperation between institutions and enterprises in China and Germany, promote innovation to the world, promote common development among all parties, and improve economic resilience," said Joachim Joe Lenz, Deputy Director of the Fraunhofer Institute of Industrial Engineering in Germany.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the European Union. The China Europe Industrial Innovation Zone has settled in Wuxi High tech Zone and started construction. The 24.5 square kilometer innovation zone includes four major international industrial cooperation sub parks: China Germany, China Israel, China France, and China Switzerland. It will deepen cooperation between China and Europe in areas such as industrial docking, technical cooperation, and project attraction.
The innovation zone plans to achieve an annual output value of 160 billion yuan by gathering no less than 30 European hidden champion enterprises that include more than 10 functional institutions of multinational company headquarters to make it a new window for foreign cooperation in Wuxi and the entire Jiangsu.
