East China's Jiangsu province reported significant recovery and growth of advanced manufacturing industry in the first three quarters.
In the first three quarters, industries above the designated size in Jiangsu reported a year-on-year growth of 7.2%, with growth rates in the electrical machinery, automotive, and chemical industries exceeding double digits. The advanced manufacturing industry reported a significant recovery, with integrated circuit manufacturing experiencing a growth rate of 6.8% from negative growth at one point in September.
The manufacturing growth rate of electronic specialized materials increased to 8.1% in September, driving the province's electronic industry to rebound for three consecutive months. Driven by the rebound in the electronics and chemical industries, the province's industrial growth rate increased to 8.9% in September.
At the recent "2023 Jiangsu Integrated Circuit Auction" held by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology in Yixing City, 8 Yixing-based enterprises including Jiangsu Xianke Semiconductor won bids for 8 projects including "high-performance graphene".
Integrated circuits are a key emerging industry in Jiangsu's development, and Wuxi is a key city for integrated circuits in China. Wuxi, a major integrated circuit city in China, has basically formed an industrial layout of "design and manufacturing in Wuxi, packaging in Jiangyin, and raw materials in Yixing", with an annual output value exceeding 200 billion yuan.
“Yixing is going all out to promote the development of the integrated circuit industry, and has initially formed a development pattern with a focus on specialized materials for integrated circuits, covering design, manufacturing, and packaging testing. The auction of integrated circuit patent achievements is meant to use the market to recommend the achievements in the integrated circuit field to enterprises on the relevant industry chain,” said Deng Linwei, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Yixing City.
Jiangsu has accelerated the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into real productivity by targeting 16 emerging industrial clusters and 50 key industrial chains with the annual turnover of technology contracts increasing by over 20%, and is expected to exceed 380 billion yuan this year, ranking among the top in the country, promoting a significant rebound in the province's advanced manufacturing industry.
At present, the operating revenue of 16 emerging industry clusters has accounted for 70% of the province's above designated manufacturing industry, and 10 of them have become national advanced manufacturing clusters with smart grids and crystalline silicon photovoltaics reaching international advanced levels.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has launched 500 major industrial projects, with 492 advanced manufacturing clusters as the focus of cultivation. As of the end of September, 150 of these major projects have been completed and put into operation.
In the New North District of Changzhou, Jiangsu Bozhiwang Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. has developed intelligent equipment for producing new energy vehicle wiring harness products by passing the first major equipment certification in the province so that it has expanded production capacity since the beginning of this year, and provided equipment for supporting the production of wiring harnesses for new energy vehicles such as BYD and Li Auto. It has also become a supporting supplier for Tesla, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and some other companies, further improving the province's new energy vehicle industry chain.
“In the field of intelligent manufacturing wiring harnesses in China, we currently rank first with a market share of about 36.7%. Moreover, our technical routes are unique and have laid a solid foundation for expanding into the international market,” Si Xiangliang, Chairman of Jiangsu Bozhiwang Automation Equipment Co., Ltd.,said.
The investment in the new energy field continues to drive the rapid growth of Jiangsu's new energy industry. In the first three quarters, the added value of photovoltaic equipment and component manufacturing, lithium-ion battery manufacturing, and new energy vehicle manufacturing increased by 39.2%, 15.5%, and 92.1% year-on-year, respectively, contributing a total of 23.8% to the growth of industrial added value above designated size.
