East China's Jiangsu province has promoted a new trend of national fitness by accelerating the construction of a higher level public service system for national fitness, allowing more people to enjoy the beauty and joy of sports, according to the National Fitness Public Service System Construction Promotion Conference held in Zhangjiagang on Monday.
Statistics show that Jiangsu has registered 317900 sports venues, with a per capita sports venue area of 4.03 square meters and a national physical fitness compliance rate of 93.4%, making sports an indispensable and important aspect of modern civilized life for Jiangsu people.
In 2024, Jiangsu will continue to build and renovate sports facilities according to local conditions to form a diverse and ubiquitous fitness and leisure space.
“We are considering building no less than 500 kilometers of fitness walks, 50 sports parks and squares next year, and promoting no less than 100 public sports venues to be opened to society for low fees or free. At the same time, we will arrange a provincial-level special fund of 50 million yuan to accelerate the construction of sports venues and facilities in northern Jiangsu, especially in rural areas,” said Zhang Haitao, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau.
In 2024, Jiangsu will also extensively carry out more diverse mass sports events by planning to hold no less than 130 provincial-level or above brand sports events. At the same time, the 9th Jiangsu National Fitness Games will be held to comprehensively enhance the activity of national fitness and make sports a new trend leading to high-quality life.
