The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Water Resources held a meeting on Monday at the Jiangdu Water Conservancy Hub to promote high-quality development of water conservancy, summarizing and improving the previous stage of promoting high-quality development practices throughout the system, and deploying key tasks for the next stage.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has significantly improved its flood and drought disaster prevention system, effectively prevented 14 rounds of heavy rainfall, and achieved a comprehensive victory in flood control and drought relief throughout the province.
Jiangsu has been awarded the honorary title of the strictest water resource management system and excellent implementation of soil and water conservation planning by the State Council for the ninth and fourth consecutive years.
Suqian has been included in the first batch of municipal water network pilot zones in China. Jiangsu has introduced an innovative regulatory mechanism for the first time, aiming to promote the safety and quality of water conservancy construction to a higher level. One project in Jiangsu won the Luban Award and five projects won the Dayu Award, ranking first in terms of quantity in the country.
The Hongze Ancient Irrigation Area has been shortlisted as a candidate for the 2023 World Irrigation Engineering Heritage List.
Jiangsu will make every effort to promote high-quality development, enhance the ability of the flood and drought disaster prevention system, build a modern water network across the province, improve food security, assist in rural revitalization, adhere to systematic governance, reform and innovation for leadership and demonstration and promote the province's high-quality water conservancy development to take the lead and become a demonstration in the country.
