The ultra large diameter shield tunneling machine "Yuanmeng" jointly developed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group and China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Group rolled off the production line in Changsha on Saturday.
The shield tunneling machine will be used for the construction of the Suzhou East Tunnel on the Nantong-Ningbo high-speed railway. The Suzhou East Tunnel is located in Suzhou Industrial Park and Wuzhong District. With a total length of 15.565 kilometers and a diameter of 14.81 meters, the tunnel is currently of the highest construction standard and longest high-speed rail urban tunnel with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour in China.
The Nantong-Ningbo high-speed railway will significantly shorten the distance between the main cities in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, making it of great significance for optimizing the layout of the Yangtze River Delta high-speed railway network by improving the national transportation network, and promoting higher quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The asphalt on the lower layer of the bridge deck of the Nanjing-Xianxin Road Yangtze River Bridge, which is the largest span suspension bridge in China and the third largest span in the world, has been completed, and the installation of the climbing ladder for the southern anchor chamber of the upper structure is currently underway.
“We expect to start dismantling the catwalk after the new year and open to traffic by the end of 2024,” said Li Xiangyang, Deputy Manager of Nanjing-Xianxin Road Bridge Project.
The 13.17-kilometer Xianxin Road Yangtze River Bridge will reduce the time spent on traveling from one side to the other side from 1 hour to 10 minutes.
Nanjing has completed the main structural capping of Linchulu Station and Qilihe Station on Metro Line 11. 19 of the 20 stations on the line have started construction with 11 of the stations capped.
