The provincial government said on Saturday that the government will raise the monthly allowance for the needy in 2018.
In 2018, in order to enhance the effectiveness of poverty relief, Jiangsu will further raise the level of subsistence allowances in urban and rural areas, and increase the urban and rural minimum living standards by 5% and 8% respectively. The rural subsistence allowances minimum standard will be raised to 430 yuan per person per month.
The government will steadily improve the integration of medical insurance for the urban and rural residents and the actual level of replenishment.
In 2018, Jiangsu will further improve the supply structure of pension services and improve the accuracy of pension services with the new installations of 100 day-care centers for the elderly and 2,000 meal sites for seniors at the urban communities.
Further efforts will be made to promote the combination of medical care and the pension system with at least one nursing home for the seniors set by each county, county level city or urban district with nursing beds accounting for 45% of the total. Accidental injury insurance for the elderly will be launched under the Healthy Care Action Plan to increase the underwriting coverage to over 65%.
