The First Session of the 13th National People's Congress held the second plenary meeting to be briefed on the work report of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, the work report of the Provincial Higher People's Court and the work report of the Provincial People's Procuratorate.
Lou Qinjian, executive chairman of the legislative session and secretary of the CP, provincial committee, attended the meeting and sat on the podium.

During the year, a total of 17 laws and regulations were formulated and revised, and 38 laws and regulations of prefecture-level cities were reviewed and approved， Shi said.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress appointed 131 personnel of state organs in accordance with the law, gave full play to the role of NPC deputies, and enhanced the overall cooperation of the work of the NPC, according to Shi.
For the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, the term of office in the past five years is a five-year period with remarkable achievements in the building of socialist democracy and rule of law and in the work of the legislative body, Shi said, adding that the quality of the legislation has been improved and the effectiveness of supervision has been significantly enhanced in an all-round way.
According to Shie Heping, a total of 43 decisions on major issues have been made in accordance with the law, which has effectively promoted the implementation of major decisions and plans of the provincial party committee and supported and guaranteed the deputies to perform their duties in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, great progress has been made in personnel appointment and removal, foreign relations and other aspects of work.
In reviewing and summarizing the work of the past five years, we have come to realize that effectively fulfilling the duties entrusted by the Constitution and laws and doing a good job in handling local people's congresses in the new situation, we must always uphold the party's leadership and always insist on serving the overall work of the province and always insist the people-centered approach and adhere to the reform and innovation.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the 12th Provincial People’s Congress, Shi Heping also made recommendations on the work of the Standing Committee of the new legislative session.
On behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Higher People's Court, Xia Daohu, acting president of the Court, delivered a work report.
According to Xia, in 2017, the courts at all levels in the province performed their trial duties, served the overall interests of economic and social development in accordance with the law, protected people's livelihood rights and interests in accordance with the law, unified the power of the courts of the entire province to tackle hardships, promoted the judicial system reform and improved the credibility of the judiciary system to build a loyal and clean team
Liu Hua, Procurator of the Provincial People's Procuratorate, delivered a report on the work of the past year. In 2017, the procuratorial organs across the province made unremitting efforts on the presecution by intensifing the procuratorial supervision, promoting judicial reform and conducting a comprehensive and strict inspection.
According to Liu, in the past five years, the Provincial People's Procuratorate approved the arrest of 184,553 criminal suspects of all kinds, prosecuted 483,581 suspects and investigated and handled 8,286 job-related crimes with 10,304 suspects placed under investigation.
