During the annual legislative session, the Government Work Report would list 10 livelihood issues that arouse widespread concern from the people due to their direct and close association with the people’s life. Now let's take a close look at what will happen to our life in 2018.
Employment is the foundation of people's livelihood. By 2018, 100,000 people in urban and rural areas who have difficulty in finding employment in the province will be employed and re-employed while the government will encourage 25,000 college students and 50,000 peasants to start their own businesses in a bid to stimulate the potential for creating wealth.
The government will increase the expense on social security with the basic minimum pension insurance increased to 135 yuan per person per month, the minimum standard of financial subsidies in the urban and rural resident basic medical insurance increased to 510 yuan per person per year and the minimum monthly rural subsistence allowances increased to 430 yuan per person per month.
To help the elderly help disabled, the government will increase the installation of 100 new day-care centers for the elderly and 2,000 meal sites for seniors at the urban communities with the homes for the disabled to cover all the sub-districts in the province.
At the same time, 200 caring homes will be installed across the province to bring care and warmth to left-behind children in rural areas.
The government will incorporate 2200 key food production and operation providers in the food safety electronic traceability system to ensure the safety of every bite of the food.
To improve the living environment, the government will launch comprehensive management on the environment of old residential quarters and the installation of elevators in multi-storey old residential apartments. 100 habitable residential quarters will be placed under demonstration. 215,000 shantytown apartments will be renovated and 15000 dilapidated homes in the rural areas will be redeveloped.
The government will also stress the significance of construction, maintenance and operation of rural roads in the country's battle against poverty. Efforts should be made to build good roads in rural areas and maintain them to ensure a better quality of life for farmers. Jiangsu will build 3500 kilometers of rural highways and 6000 rural bridges to bring new hopes for the rural areas.
By continuing to boost urban and rural clean water improvement, more than 100 urban black and stinky water bodies will be cleaned by 2018 so as to eliminate black and stinky water bodies in the prefectural cities in two years.
The province will continue to promote toilet upgrading by building 1500 tourist toilets throughout the year.
Cultural life is equally important. 300 community integrated service centers will be revitalized. 4,000 grass-roots integrated cultural service centers, 4,000 peasant bookstores and 700 sports parks will bring about more cultural and sports activities.
