The province's rural work conference held Sunday made a full deployment of Jiangsu's issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers in the new era, signaling a mobilization order to ensure that the province's rural revitalization ranks among the best in the country. Starting Monday, JSBC began to launch series of reports under the title of rural revitalization in Jiangsu in order to showcase the province’s promotion of comprehensive agricultural upgrading and the development of the areas and farmers. In today’s episode, we will introduce you the construction of rural highways and the farmers’ income growth in Liyang County.

At the province's rural work conference, Lou Qinjian, the provincial party committee secretary, proposed that greater efforts must be made to speed up the process of rural modernization through equal exchange of urban and rural factors and upgrading of rural infrastructure.

Many villages in various parts of Jiangsu are accelerating the construction of infrastructure and tapping into natural resources to make the land of fish and rice radiating new vitality for high-quality development.

In the past, in the hilly area of northern Liyang, the scenic spots such as Caoshan and Wawushan were inaccessible due to inconvenient traffic.

At the end of last year, many bottlenecked highways and dead end highways were linked up one after another. The 7-meter-wide No. 1 highway connected the highway network, running through 31 local administrative villages, 133 natural villages and over 220 rural tourist attractions and attracting a huge flow of visitors.

Since its opening, the No. 1 Highway has only become a symbol of Liyang’s tourism but also help with the income growth of more than 100,000 farmers along the highway.

In the Songling Village, the Bamboo Sea Rafting now receives more than 20,000 visitors each year. Xiachangyuan Village used the vacant inventory from the countryside to create a Happy Home farm. More than 200 villagers are currently employed here.

In order to make the countryside more beautiful and enrich the farmers, Jiangsu has rallied resources in many places to tap the endogenous driving force of the rural revitalization. In Dazhong Village of Suqian City, 3.2 kilometers of rainwater pipes and 8.4 kilometers of landscape roads were laid. In the past, the “garbage village”, which primarily relied on processing waste plastics for income growth, was transformed into a beautiful home for the villagers to live and work in.

In Baima Town of Taizhou City, many villages are building roads and planting trees to integrate the native culture of farming into creative leisure agriculture projects, creating a number of excellent eco-tourism products such as private gardens and flower seedlings gardens.

InYuezha Village of Huai'an City, the straw sculptures and paintings of different shapes have attracted visitors and the village also introduced helicopter sightseeing tours to allow visitors to gain a bird’s eye view of the beauty of Hongze Lake.
