Vice Governor Guo Yuanqiang met Thursday in Nanjing with Elzod Kasimov, Deputy Governor of Tashkent Oblast of Uzbekistan and signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of friendly relations between Jiangsu and Tashkent Oblast.
Guo Yuanqiang extended his warm welcome to Kasimov for his visit to Jiangsu before briefing the guests on Jiangsu's economic and social development.
He said that in recent years, Uzbekistan has achieved rapid economic growth, attracting more and more Jiangsu enterprises to launch industrial investment and startups, adding that Jiangsu will implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries and deepen cooperation in the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.
The vice governor hoped that the two sides will take the opportunity of signing the memorandum of friendship to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation in resources, energy, trade and investment, international production capacity, urban construction, education and tourism so as to make new contributions to the friendly development of China- Uzbekistan relations and benefit the people on both sides.
Elzod Kasimov said that Tashkent Oblast attaches great importance to its relations with Jiangsu and hopes to learn from Jiangsu's development experience and deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation to achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefit.
Agozam Herdev Sayed Kamor, Uzbekistan’s Consul General in Shanghai, attended the meeting.
