The standing committee of the provincial people’s congress held a chairpersons’ meeting Tuesday to address issues concerning the 5thNational Constitution Day and the improvement of the local legislation.
The meeting was presided over by Chen Zhenning, executive vice chairman and deputy secretary of the standing committee of the provincial people’s congress.
Present at the meeting were other leaders that include Xing Chunning, Liu Handong, Wei Guoqiang, Qu Futian, Chen Mengmeng and Xu Zhongzi.
The spirit of the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the Fifth National Constitution Day and the spirit of the important speech of Chairman Li Zhanshu were conveyed at the meeting.
It was stressed at the meeting that the Standing Committee and the Provincial People's Congress should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, enhance political stance, and boost the consciousness and firmness of respecting the Constitution, observing the Constitution, and safeguarding the Constitution so as to fulfill the duties entrusted by the Constitution, strengthen the study and publicity of the Constitution, and make the entire people loyal advocate,self-conscious adherent, and firm defender of the Constitution.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the guidelines for the promotion of poverty alleviation in Jiangsu and other issues.
