He made the remarks when presiding over a symposium last week in Xuzhou on building a comprehensively well-off society.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that the goal of building a comprehensively well-off society by 2020 is the party's commitment to the people and obligation to history, and also an important foundation and a key step in realizing the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation of the Chinese dream.
The key difficulty of building a comprehensively well-off society is in the rural areas and in northern Jiangsu the biggest problem is the low-income population, he said.
This year is crucial year for building a comprehensively well-off society, the CPC Provincial chief said, adding that the whole province, especially the cities in northern Jiangsu, must have a high sense of responsibility and a high sense of mission, follow the laws of economic and social development, conform to the people's yearning for a better life, and adhere to the synchronized development of the new type of industrialization, informationization, urbanization and agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics so as to live up to the expectations of the Party and the people.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that the sprint for building a comprehensively well-off society should aim high and wide to ensure that no one is left behind, adding that it is important to attach importance to large projects and optimize the business environment at the same time, develop the economy and protect the environment simultaneously, step up poverty alleviation and relocate more farmers in northern Jiangsu into resettlement quarters, improving the rural ecological environment, promoting equal access to basic public services, promoting social civilization, and ensuring that a comprehensive well-off society is materialized as scheduled
He also stressed the importance of Party leadership over building a comprehensively well-off society, adding that Party and government leaders at all levels and party members and officials must strengthen their political responsibilities, make further efforts in the emancipation of the mind, keep a low profile and be pragmatic, and roll up their sleeves to work harder so as to make new performances in the sprint for building a well-off society at a high level.
