Symposium held in honor of Qu Qiubai’s 120th birthday

A symposium was held in Changzhou Tuesday in honor of the 120th birth anniversary of Qu Qiubai, a leader of the Communist Party of China in the late 1920s.


Wang Yanwen, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and director of the Publicity Department, attended the meeting and pointed out that Comrade Qu Qiubai left a unique red resource for Jiangsu, which is conducive to promoting the construction of new Jiangsu and the province’s high-quality development.

She noted that the spirit of carrying forward the revolution of Qu Qiubai in the new era is to learn from his unchanging beliefs and unswerving beliefs, and to be a firm believer and loyal practitioner of the common ideal of communism and the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Learning the unyielding will of his fearlessness and courage to fight is to open up a new realm of high-quality development in Jiangsu, Wang Yanwen said, adding that to learn his great public servant feelings of selfless dedication and heart is to do everything possible to improve people's livelihood so as to let the people have more sense of happiness and gain in the development of joint construction and sharing.


A photo exhibition on Qu Qiubai’s revolutionary life was unveiled Tuesday in Changzhou. 

Qu Qiubai, was born in Changzhou, Jiangsu, on 29 January 1899. Qu was one of the major Chinese intellectuals to emerge from the May 4th Movement, and one of early Communist Party members who established the spirit of the revolutionary movement in China. He is also widely remembered as an emotive poet. Qu also translated The Internationale into Chinese, with his version recognized as the official one and used as the anthem of the Communist Party of China. In 1927 after the fall of Chen Duxiu, he became acting Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party’s Politburo and the de facto leader of the party. He was shot dead by the KMT army in January 1935.
