The national economic census, once in five years, is the measurement of the country’s economic strength. The fourth national economic census has entered the final spurt since its launch on January 1st this year.
China’s fourth national economic census entered its registration phase on the New Year’s Day.
Ma Xuezhen, an agent of the census, has been kept busy by visiting nearly 1000 households in Hubin community, Hongze district, Huai’an city. She would keep visiting the community twice a day so as to gain a clear understanding of the economic conditions of the local enterprises and employees.
Ma is one of the 251 census agents working in Hongze district.
In Jiangsu, registration on 105000 enterprises and organizations has come to an end while registration on 2.3 million impersonal entities and self-employed businesses is half done.
The economic census is one of China's major censuses of national conditions and will investigate the development of the country's industrial and tertiary sectors.
The survey, launched every five years, will cover all businesses involved in the secondary and tertiary industries, painting a wide economic picture.
About 30 million impersonal entities and industrial activity units as well as about 60 million self-employed entrepreneurs will be involved.
The registration will determine the quality of the whole census and called for efforts to ensure the statistics to be true and accurate.
A total of 2 million census workers have been deployed to nearly 900,000 communities to conduct the survey.
China has conducted three national economic censuses previously, in 2004, 2008 and 2013.
